Managing Stress

How we can help to manage stress

Stress has its functions. It is useful for motivation, it keeps us alert and it provides energy to get tasks done. However when it becomes too much and we are stretched beyond our resources it can become dangerous.
What defines stress for us is very individual as it is based on how we react to specific situations and our capacity to deal with them. Many people are affected by life changes, frustration of our goals and conflict. Many become stressed by forces that are out of their control.
The physical symptoms can be quite severe with headaches, lowered immune system, stomach problems, loss of appetite, hair loss and weight loss. Stress is often accompanied by a range of confusing emotions such as: anger, anxiety, depression, fear, grief, jealousy and shame. When these emotions become dangerous it may be time to seek help.
